Developer search infrastructure

Search infrastructure, under your control.

A self-hostable search API gateway with tenant-isolated keys, usage controls, configurable metasearch or opt-in Chromium browser backends, and an experimental MCP endpoint. Built for developers, research workflows, and AI agents.

Private beta — connection pending. Private preview: the VM currently reads organic results from the Bing webpage in Chromium. Google and other challenged sources are excluded. Commercial redistribution rights have not been verified.

Capabilities

Web search

Organic links, snippets and related searches with Serper-inspired JSON.

Images & video

Dedicated media category results when upstream engines permit.

News & scholar

News and academic discovery via configured engines.

Key management

Client isolation, key rotation, quotas and throttling.

AI-ready endpoints

REST plus a limited JSON MCP protocol preview.

Capacity by policy

Zero monthly cap is supported, but does not remove upstream resource limits.

Developer quickstart

curl -X POST https://api-search.trydataverse.com/search \
  -H 'X-API-KEY: YOUR_ISSUED_KEY' \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -d '{"q":"open source search engine","num":5}'

Browser searches require an explicit two-letter country location (MCP tool argument or REST parameter). The default SearXNG mode supports /search, /news, /images, /videos and /scholar. Other Serper-style paths explicitly return 501 until licensed provider adapters are connected.
